We recently got the opportunity to film a commercial for the original television series “Kingdom” featuring the star Frank Grillo. It was an ambitious shoot that included some very difficult shots. The entire project was shot in 6K Widescreen. Director of Photography Jonathan Belinski utilized a Red Dragon camera with a Leica R Macro lens rehoused by Van Dieman. For the most challenging shot, Jonathan operated the camera on a gimbal and dollied back about 5 feet starting on an extreme close up and ending in a wide. The focus barrel on the lens had to make approximately 6 full rotations very quickly to move focus from minimum object distance to 5 feet, so there were a lot of moving parts that all had to be just right. Overall, it was a great project with the kind of creative challenges that make it fun and rewarding. Hats off to the great post team.
