It was another great year at the MLB All-Star Game. This year marks the final All Star Game of one of the greatest players in recent history, Big Pappi himself, David Ortiz. The All-Star Game has been one of our favorite projects over the years because it always presents a unique challenge. Working with a fantastic producer Joel Santos, we are always pushed to create a high-end stylized look in whatever space we can get at the local venue. The entire crew was terrific and we essentially created a custom film studio inside a locker room. When it’s time to roll, baseball’s biggest stars walk in, and we might only have a few minutes to get the shots we need. From there, the media is offloaded and Jonathan will color correct into the night. Then the final footage edited into several different spots that premiere during the live event. The whole thing happens in a little over 24 hours.

We have recently been lucky enough to get the opportunity to work with Ernie Ball, legendary makers of fine instruments, on a new television series called “Pursuit of Tone.” This series profiles some of the music industry’s biggest names, telling their stories and sharing their creative journeys like never before. This really has been an amazing project to be a part of. Working with the fantastic creative team of Producer Dustin Hinz and Director Haven Lamoureux, we have had the pleasure of filming with such luminary musicians as Mike Ness, Buddy Guy, Billy Duffy, Butch Walker, James Valentine, Hunter Hayes, and more. The entire series is shot on 6K digital cinema cameras utilizing the latest equipment and techniques in moving camera stabilization. The small expert crew gets unprecedented access to the artist during an intimate 2-3 day shoot and the shot list is always ambitious. Pursuit of Tone combines the compelling nature of a music doc with the visual flair of a hollywood production.
The WWC USA 360 Shoot for Fox Sports was one of the most rewarding projects in recent memory. It was an honor to be apart of this Emmy Award winning campaign featuring the women of the USWNT, including stars Abby Wambach, Carli Lloyd, Sydney Leroux, Alex Morgan, Julie Johnston, Megan Rapinoe, Hope Solo and more. It was evident during filming that this was a special team, and they of course went on to be World Cup Champions. There were several ‘rooms’ for the player portraits, each with it’s own distinctive look. The Rain room featured several rain bars against a custom metal backdrop. Jonathan made use of these elements to create some truly memorable moments. Another room, named the Ballerina room, kept Jonathan on his toes as he operated the 6K cinema camera on a gimbal system to bring movement to the piece. The fantastic creative and production teams dedicated to this project really made it a great experience and it shows in the Emmy Winning results.
